ETHIOPIA'S Updated Nationally Determined Contribution to Climate Action(NDC) is Validated.

Ethiopia's updated Nationally Determined Contributions to Climate Action is officially validated and launched today Jul. 1/2021. The validation has taken place in the presence of multi-stakeholders that would contribute to its implementation. The plan will end up in 2030 and was said to encompass ambitious targets to achieve.
Speaking at the opening of the event, Excellency prof. Fekadu Beyene, Commissioner to the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Commission mentioned that the plan intends to reduce GHG emissions by 68.8% (-277.7 Mt Co2e) by 2030. Commissioner also mentioned that the updated NDC has incorporated targets that aim to meet 40 Adaptation interventions which the previous plan didn't.
The total cost estimated for implementation is about USD 316 billion. Out of which USD 40.5billion goes to adaptation while USD 275.5 billion goes to mitigation. 20% of the finance is domestically financed and 80% of the finance will be expected from international partners.
